How to Get Better Marketing Results - Part 2

If you are out there looking for more customer love, but have nothing to offer, they'll ignore you. And if you're "difficult," they'll walk away.

So, How Can You Make Your Brand Worth Dating?

The Art of Attraction. Hint: You need more than a creative ad campaign with cool graphics. All flashy tech and no substance or strategy will only work for so long. Start by attracting customers to your brand in meaningful ways. Make them want to connect and stay connected.

Strategy + Creative + Technology = Marketing the Modern Way™

If your goal is more dates and long-term relationships, maybe you should be more interesting and easier to get along with every time you interact.

Fresh Ideas Attract Attention

Bringing something new or better to market is a sure-fire way to get noticed.

  • Meet a consumer need in a new way. Remember when grocery shopping meant actually walking into a store? Look for opportunities to innovate, create and fill a void.

  • Attract a new customer segment with a logical brand extension. Lego is getting a whole lotta love with it's new adult-focused ads.

  • Outshine your competition. Offer something they don't or offer it in a better way. Be the only one or the best.

Make Every Date Great

Remember that Customer Journey Map from Part 1? Think of each interaction as a date. Make each one enjoyable if you want another.

  • Are you easy to get along with? Design every experience -- from website, app and product UI's to your customer service process -- from the customer’s perspective. Minimize frustration, optimize function and most importantly keep them happy, happy, happy.

  • Make a real connection. Take time to understand the objects of your affection. What are their wants and needs? Meet them where they are, speak their language, solve their problem and you're likely to get engaged.

  • Is it love or infatuation? Study the data to see if engagement is holding steady, dropping off or clearly pointing up and to the right.

Keep ‘Em Coming Back

  • Do your customers feel the love, or are they in a “you don’t bring me flowers” frame of mind? Ask how you could make them happier and then do it.

  • Keep the romance alive. Say I love you. Don't overdo it, but don't assume they know. Strengthen the connection by rewarding loyalty and expressing your gratitude.

We hope these quick tips help you transform your lonely brand into one that's date worthy.

If you would like to turn those dates into long-term relationships, we'd love to help. As brand and people "matchmakers," we know it takes the right mix -- one part smart strategy, one part well-wrought creative and one part digital mastery (Marketing the Modern Way™) -- to make your brand not just date worthy, but relationship worthy, too.
